Wasteful Government Spending Leaderboard
AGENDA
The US President has promised to make as many as 50,000 civil servants political appointees, effectively stripping the career protections of those currently in the roles and ensuring loyalists would remain.
And Trump supporter Elon Musk said that, if he joins the administration as part of a new Department of Government Efficiency, he would find $2 trillion in budget cuts.
Trump’s policy goals don’t just look to undo the work of the Biden administration. He looks to remake policies — and the federal agencies that create them — at their core.
USAID AID RECLAIM
Reauthorization: It is unknown if Congress will seek to reauthorize PEPFAR, which could afford it an opportunity to propose changes to the program and extend certain time-bound provisions.
Reorganization. The proposed permanent dissolution of USAID and integration of any remaining USAID global health activities into GHSD, raises several questions, including whether additional capacities will be provided to allow for the management and implementation of PEPFAR as well as other health programs.
Funding/Budget Request: The administration’s initial FY 2026 budget request includes significant reductions in funding for global health, as well as rescissions to prior year funding amounts. While details are not provided, it notes that funding is preserved for any current PEPFAR beneficiaries. A more detailed budget request is expected in the next few weeks.
DOGE EMPLOYMENT & EMPOWERMENT
The government wastes billions of dollars each year on duplicative programs and frivolous expenditures that fail to align with American values or address the needs of the American people.
President Trump established the “Department of Government Efficiency” to examine how to streamline the Federal Government, eliminate unnecessary programs, and reduce bureaucratic inefficiency.
President Trump launched a 10-to-1 deregulation initiative, ensuring every new rule is justified by clear benefits.
President Trump authorized buyout programs to encourage federal employees to leave voluntarily.
Through these actions, President Trump is keeping his promise to restore efficiency and accountability in the Federal Government.
GOOD NEWS: DOGE is now committed to enrol more than 100,000 competent employees to the Federal Civil Service, Health Ministry, Internal Revenue Service, Security Agencies and other parastatals after the sacking of more than 228,000 of federal workers.
